Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. George Bernard Shaw
Our society tells us that we’re sexier the more clothes we take off, but we can be sexy without baring all. Sexy is a way we feel about ourselves. Julie Hunter understands that people cherish the photographs of themselves reflecting who they are. The best photographs will capture ourselves in our proudest moments, and that we can look back on to remember we’re beautiful the way we are. Sometimes clothes are a prop for tantalizing the eye to our favorite features. Sometimes clothes highlight a facet of our personality that’s otherwise mysterious. Style gives a little extra context to our body language. Maybe it’s the way the fabric and construction touch us or the feelings we attach to dressing up that brings out the lover, passion, and confidence in us. Our bodies are gorgeous just the way they are. They don’t need to be clothed to look better. Style is another way of expressing selflove and demonstrating what makes us feel sexy. Shooting with Julie will put your mind at ease. You only need to be yourself, and Julie will take a good photograph. No need to worry about your best side because Julie’s going to take amazing photos of you no matter the side. Dress up or down the way you’ve always wanted, and see how sexy you look when you’re happy with yourself.

I have worked with Astrid only a handful of times but every conversation with her is a refreshing look at the photography industry and empowerment. I spoke to her about this particular project with my boudoir that I wanted to flesh out that included NOT wearing lingerie or bearing it all. She gladly participated and got the styling help of Brittani Bumb of Untitled Thoughts as well as hair & makeup by Jashley Paulina of Atlanta (Follow her on IG). Not to mention, the session is set inside the greenhouse that is beside the Candler Mansion in Decatur. Rumor has it that the structure will be torn down soon.
What is the point of my post? I have clients who love to wear nothing at all to those who are too modest for even some lingerie. I wanted to encourage anyone interested in a boudoir but thought they might be too shy to consider doing a session like the one I have featured here with Astrid. Boudoir isn't just about taking your clothes off, though it is encouraged. It is about taking away your self doubt, your inhibitions, your low self esteem. Its about trusting your photography to show you exactly who you are already are, inside. Also, Astrid has given about 2 dozen ways to pose in this one session! She is an amazing mentor to models in the industry. I really appreciate her professionalism and her heart.
I've posted these images a few times when I first had this session in May of 2017 but I wanted to finally put them all together in one blog post as well as include a behind the scenes video that we made while there. My daughter, Gabriella assisted in most of the footage.
Thank you to the entire team that put this together. I could NOT be happier with the outcome.
In November of 2017, Regan (a resident of Augusta, GA) reached out to me as she had scheduled a boudoir session with someone in Atlanta that wound up cancelling on her last minute. Thankfully, I was already available and got her into the studio immediately.
We had a really great time shooting inside my West Midtown studio on the Goat Farm property off Foster St NW. She came prepared to shoot right away and with several outfit choices.
I asked Regan if I could feature her review as well as some of the photos. I'll let Regan & her photos speak for themselves!
